Forgive me blogger it's been 14 days since my last post.....
So we got moved thank goodness. I'm still not completely done "setting up house" yet. It seems like we still have so much left to do. But when I look around we have already done a lot.
Megs soccer stuff has really picked up and we have been running her around from practices, SAQ, and games 6 days a week. She is doing so well and working so hard. I am one proud Momma.
It seems like the summer is flying by and I am not happy about that at all. We have less than a month before we start back to school :-( not looking forward to that at all.
Well I better get back to it. Working in the flower bed today... it's a mess. There are lots of "good" plants in there but they are just sort of thrown in there, crowded together, and it's full of weeds and leaves. I have to figure out how to move things around to better showcase whats in there and give the plants room to breathe a little. I will post some pictures as I go along. I have already raked out all the leaves so the first pictures won't reflect its true original state... but just know it was a mess :-)

I still feel like I have a ton of stuff left to do.

I have been busy trying to get as much ready as I can but still feel like I have so much more to do.

Holy crap I only have 9 days left

So I have 9 days left before we are set to close on the house !!!!! I have so much stuff to do. I have made multiple trips to KARM and dropped off a lot of stuff. I have even packed a few things. Linens and things that we don't use very often. My plan is to get some boxes this week and start packing up darn near everything except the few things we will need to get through the next few days.

I am excited and nervous about the move. The house is pretty much move in ready, but I need to figure out how things will work in the new space. We have to add a doggie door to the garage man door so that the dogs can come and go to the backyard at will. I need to get some curtain rods and a shower curtain bar/rod. I also need to figure out where to feed my cats so the dogs don't eat their food. Right now they eat on a little table in my bedroom. The bedroom at the new house is not as big as the monster one we have now. I still need to go through and do a change of address with our bills, set up our cable, water, and electric.

I have a ton of stuff to get done !!!!

Listing it all on here is amping my stress level up so I think I'm gonna stop doing that LOL

Also wanna give a shout out to one of my new favorite things Ancestory.com I have had such a good time researching my family tree on there. I am currently in the 2 week free period but I am gonna get the six month membership so I can keep looking. I have been able to trace my moms family back to the late 1700's in Germany and my dads family back to their trip over from Scotland in the 1600's. How sweet is that ?

So we have 16 days til we are set to close on the new house !!!!

While that sounds like a while I have a TON of stuff to get done.

Plus they still have some work to do at the new house before we can close. I am a little worried that they aren't going to get everything done in time.

They still have a lot to clean up from where the trees came down last week. The fence still needs to get repaired/replaced.

My plan is to start in one room and pack up what we won't use for the next two weeks and clean up that room. I have made several trips to the local KARM store already and I see several more trips there in my immediate future.

I want to adopt a new philosophy at the new house to not keep things that we don't use. I am always hanging on to things that I think I may need or use again at some point. So I have all these "just in case" things packed in closets and cabinets. I am gonna stop this practice at the new house. I am tired of living surrounded by crap LOL.

We will see how I do on this goal.

Getting John and Meg on board is another matter entirely.....

So I have 18 days until we are set to move !!!!!!!!!

I have so much stuff to get done it's not even funny.

I have to pack up and clean out the house now then once we get in there we have to come back and redo the house we are leaving. I (and by I, I mean John) have to repaint every room white and move 2 doors and close to doors in, take down a wall and then redo the flooring where we took down the wall !!! Maybe we will be done by September.

I am really excited about the move but dreading it just the same.

I look forward to having my own house again.

Where I can put what I want in the yard and paint the walls whatever color I want without having to ask. John can park his POS truck next to the house. Where we have control of the heat and air temp.

I don't mean to sound ungrateful but it's the little things like that that help make a house your home.

I look forward to that again.

The work and the other stuff not so much, but alas it's part of it.

We are gonna have to make some changes in our spending so that we can live comfortably in the new house and still take care of the responsibilities we have at the other house. But I think we will be just fine after an initial adjustment period.

I am looking forward to being able to have friends over for dinner and stuff and for Meg being able to have friends over for sleepovers and things. It will be a nice change for all of us.

In the meantime I have a ton of stuff to get rid of.

I have a bunch of stuff like this I need to get rid of. While I LOVE it I don't use it and my goal for the new house is less is more. So it's gotta go !!!

So last night I had free sneak peak passes to see bad Teacher at the Regal Riviera Downtown. The movie was pretty funny. It had some zingy one liners and also had Jason Segal. I am really growing to love him as an actor. I almost wish I had gotten into how I Met Your Mother just for him.

The movie is funny and not really raunchy although there are a couple of scenes that push the line a little. Lets just say JT's character is really bizarre.....

So some pretty wicked storms rolled through my area AGAIN last night. At the start of the storm we were at the soccer field for Megs soccer practice and watched as the ominous black clouds started to roll in. The wind kicked up from just a gentle breeze to 55-60 mph winds in a matter of a few minutes. The girls had just been pulled off the field when the skies opened and the deluge of rain started. So we were trying to get home during the worst part of the storm. Trees were whipping and branches and leaves were blowing everywhere. The rain was coming down really hard and the wind was causing it to come at us sideways. I felt a little like Forrest Gump. About this time my cell started ringing and it was my neighbor telling me that our carport roof had ripped almost all the way off and was flapping in the wind. Right above my car and into the weather head on the side/top of the house !!!!! Needless to say we came home to a mess. We have tree limbs and leaves everywhere not to mention the metal that's twisted up onto the roof. So instead of working in the house today getting things ready to move I will be outside cleaning up mother natures mess. Yay Me :-)

Big changes and belly laughs

As if things aren't crazy enough for me right now. We went and bought a house. I am super excited that we have found a place to call our own, but am crazy nervous about all the changes and work that it means we have to get done in the next 30 days.

I think the house will be perfect for us and our fur kids. It's in a nice older neighborhood that John and I have always loved and secretly wanted to live in. It's an all brick ranch with 3 bedrooms and 1 1/2 baths. It has a one car garage and a fenced backyard. But what you might ask are my favorite parts of the new house ?

Well it will be ours (well in 30 or less years) it has a HUGE deck across the whole back of the house and it has a garbage disposal !!!!!!!!!!!!! I have always wanted a garbage disposal and now I will have one :-)

If I wasn't so lame and could figure out how to snatch pictures off the MLS website I would post a picture but alas I am the queen of the lamers and can't figure it out. It's been to crappy and rainy to take a good picture myself but I may take one in the rain anyway :-)

Oh and I wanted to mention how much fun the other Bad Beavers had last Tuesday night at Side Splitters. We went and laugh our beaver butts off at Einstein Simplified. They are fabulous and I can't wait until we get to go back and see them again.

Hopefully I don't get in too much trouble for snatching their logo and picture from their page.

So here I am again...

I am trying to get back into the swing of blogging. I miss it, I miss getting to express myself however badly and grammatically incorrect. I like that I have a place to rant and vent. (read bitch and moan) I am hoping that if I make myself do it for the first little bit the bug will bite again and I won't be able to miss a day.

So what can I say about my life right now....

Right now I am so stressed about things that it's not even remotely funny. I have found that I am a serious stress eater. To the point that I have taken to eating my own fingers.

Megan is training super hard right now for high school soccer, which means I am doing a lot of driving and sitting. That's ok though I really don't mind. So long as she is having fun or at least happy with what she's doing it's worth it.

I have several things that are going on that I need to keep quiet at least for a bit longer. I can say that I am both excited about them and horrified all at the same time.

I am fast approaching my 19th wedding anniversary. I am still amazed that after all this time I am still hopelessly in love with him (well most days anyway). Hard to believe that a decision I made at 16 has worked out so well. Who would have thunk it....

Well I think that was enough excitement for one day don't you ?

Back in the saddle ????

So I have been away for a good while now. I'm not sure that I will be back for long this go around either but I feel like I need a place to vent and rant about work and life. Not sure that this will be the venue I use but maybe.

So what have I been up to ?

Well I have gone back to work full time. I have quit roller derby. (somewhat begrudgingly, more on that later.) I am currently out of work for the summer. Which means that Meggo owns my time. As I type this I am sitting in the parking lot at morning SAQ for Megs soccer team. Later we are going to Young Williams Animal Center, then we get to go to lunch at Big Eds pizza in Oak Ridge with my friend Sarah form Vivid Tattoo.

As for the work thing. I am now a special education teaching assistant for our local school system. I work in a high school classroom in a mostly male class. I was at this school before for about 5 years before I quit to be a SAHM. So going back was kinda like putting on those jeans that you keep in your closet... you know the ones. The ones that are really too tight but that you can on a good day squeeze your arse into but you can't sit down or bend at all. Yeah going back was kinda like that.

Roller derby....

I truly LOVE this sport. It makes me happy to my core. I got pretty seriously hurt in a practice back in Feb. (I tore a meniscus in my back, bruised my liver, kidneys and bowel, and fractured my hip) I'm still not totally back up to par from that little fiasco. What really sucks about it is that even though I damn near ruined myself I would totally be back at it now if not for the politics and ass backwards set up of our local derby team. I maybe just a sour grape but I was really hurt by the lack of give a shit I was shown by my "derby sisters" and most importantly the team captain and the coach. Neither of which so much as called me when I got hurt. Perhaps I am being petty and I wasn't at that point a rostered skater on the team but I was a very active member of our team. Putting forth a tremendous amount of effort and giving up a shit ton of my time trying to help the team. I organized a Hallowienie sale for the team, I worked my tail off gathering stuff for the benefit yard sale that helped pay to send the team to Regionals in Ohio. I put together and got the items donated for the VIP box that was at the bouts. I came early and stayed late at our events. I was just really hurt by the lack of concern that I was shown by my "sisters". Again that may just be sour grapes on my part. I think that the team has the potential to be great and do a lot of good. I just think they are missing the mark on a few key things.

Ok so I have been busy, busy, busy lately. With lots of good things.

I have been busy with Megan's soccer, catching up and reconnecting with a great friend from high school, trying to find a job and my new love Womens Flat Track Roller Derby.

Yep you heard that right. I am in training to join the Hard Knox Roller Girls derby team. I have been working with the team since about mid June and am getting better and better skills. I'm still not quit there yet but I have passed my written skills test and have lived through 2 months of training, and training with these ladies is no joke. We have practice on Sunday and Wednesday nights from 5-9:30 with extra practice on Tuesdays from 6-9:30. It is a lot of work but is super fun. I can be in a rotten mood and go to practice and even though I have had my arse throughly kicked and am exhausted I feel great. Plus I have made some cool new friends and you can't beat that with a stick LOL. Seriously though this is a group of wicked awesome ladies and I am so glad that they let me come and play with them.

They are currently ranked #9 and are preparing to go to WFTD Nationals in Lincoln NE in October. We are working harder in practice and also working hard to raise money to get to nationals. So if you have some extra coinage hop over to the site www.hardknoxrollergirls.com and donate it.

Ok so it's been a while. To be honest I haven't really missed it. I have wondered how it was that I could blog almost everyday and read blogs a few hours a day before. Good grief that sounds awful but it's true. There were days that I would sit and read other blogs for a couple of hours a day. It was generally broken down into 20 minute or so sets in between other things but it totaled that much of my time.

I have been busy as of late doing things outside the house. I have stepped up my volunteer time at Young Williams, going in 3 days a week and helping out. I have also been blessed enough to get to help with the care of the dogs taken in from the south Knoxville hoarding case.

I have gotten to help with the feedings of these amazing animals. I am going in with Megan on Sunday to help bath and groom them all.

I am amazed by these dogs and their incredible spirits. To think of the conditions that they lived in many of them since birth. The fact that they wag their tails and want to be held and cuddled and freely give tons and tons of kisses. It both warms and breaks my heart. These guys are so special. They seem to me to be doing amazingly well all things considered.

I know that there are those that call the people at the center killers because 28 of the 74 dogs were euthanaized. (I can't spell that and spell check can't figure it out either sorry about that) I didn't see the dogs that were put down, but I know the people at the center first hand. Both the Dr.'s that had to make the call and the others who helped take care of them. I can promise you that the decisions were made on a dog by dog basis and were made with both a heavy heart, and one that was filled with love, and sympathy for those poor animals. Some of those poor dogs were in such horrible shape it was truly the most compassionate choice.

Those that remain have the best chance of pulling through and having a happy healthy life.

A lot of these dogs are the product of father, daughter, mother, son and sibling breeding. Which can cause all kinds of health problems. That coupled with the conditions they were living in really put all of them behind the eight ball.

I am so proud to say that I am connected with Young Williams Animal Center and to call the people there friends.

You can see some of the centers pictures of the center staff with the dogs when they were taken into the center here.

Once the case has gone to court I will try and get permission to take pictures of the dogs as they are now so that everyone can see their progress.

I was so proud of the people of Knoxville and the support that poured into the center in the days following the intake.

However because of the strain put on the center because of the shear numbers of dogs that were taken in from this one home the center is PACKED. While these dogs are not currently available for adoption there are plenty of animals that are and the space is desperately needed. So if you are looking for a new furry family member please go by and see if that new member is waiting for you there.

Also if you can't add to your family consider sponsoring the adoption fee of an animal that is there. You can do it over the phone at (865) 215-6599 or through their website www.knoxpets.org.

Also be sure and check out the pictures of the adoptable animals on there site. I have been helping with those pictures for the past couple of months and am so proud of how they have turned out.

So that coupled with Megan's soccer stuff and keeping the house work caught up (for the most part) and mowing the yard twice a week (I'm crazy I know) that has taken up most of my time as of late.

Megs will be out of school for summer next Friday !!!!!!! Wooo Hoooo !!!!! so things here will slow down some. Maybe.......

I am so proud of that kid and the wonderful young lady that see is becoming.

She amazes me and infuriates me on a daily bases.

I wouldn't have it any other way.

She is her own person and sticks with her ideas and decisions with a ferocity that is astounding.

I wonder what I did that allowed me to be the mom of such a fantastic human being.

With her kind heart, brilliant mind, and strong convictions she will set the world on fire one day.

So the past 8 days have not followed any sort of plan. Things have shifted and changed and gone all hinkey.

From my previous post you know that we were shocked last Tuesday to discover my brother was in the hospital and had had open heart surgery on Monday with out telling us.

He is doing remarkably well for someone who had FOUR bypasses.

He is out of commission for 6 weeks but come

April 26th

I am going to kick his ass.

His sweet doggie Peter was cremated and I picked him up on Thurs. and took him to Kile that evening when he got home.

Also on Thursday I sold my van !!!! Which is what I wanted and am happy about it, It just means some things are/will change. Right now my mom and I are sharing her car. Which is working OK. On sunny days John rides his motorcycle and leaves me his truck. Having one car is really not so bad. Although I know at some point soon I will get something else. It's making poor John crazy that I am sharing a car with my mom. He hates that I have to depend on my mom's car all the time and leave her without her car sometimes.

The problem is I am not sure what type of car I want.

Yet another thing that is making poor John crazy, my indecision.

There are just a lot of things to consider and I don't want to screw up and pick the wrong car.

I really want a change that I am pretty sure of.

I have pretty much always had SUV's or the van, but I am thinking I want something smaller and a bit sportier.

But is that what I really need to get ????

I really think I would like to have a New Beetle, but they are really small. Really cute too :o)

Megan thinks we need a Charger.

John was pushing for another SUV.

Although at this point he would just be happy if I would lean towards something.

Megan played in 4 soccer games this weekend.....

Playing for 2 teams is pretty rough.

I went to The Bone Thief book signing last night and got my book signed by Dr Bass, Jon Jefferson, and Art Bohannon :o)

I even got my picture made with Dr Bass and Jon Jefferson :o)

So here I sit filled with questions. not really sure of my next move, but knowing I have to make one.

I am not normally a person who plans things out or even knows for sure on any given day what I will be doing tomorrow, but for some reason this car decision is wearing me down.

Sorry to have fallen off the wagon with my green posts.

I found out yesterday that my brother had. had open heart surgery on Monday and didn't bother to tell us.

Jackass went in about a month ago and they tried to put stints in a couldn't. Oh and he didn't tell us that either. Apparently he has known he had a heart problem for about 8 years and didn't do anything about it or really tell anyone. He had a small heart attack in California when they were on vacation 8 years ago and had to be transported by ambulance off a mountain. At the hospital they told him he had a heart attack and they wanted to do the stints then and there. He said no and left the hospital without really telling even his wife the extent of the problem. Ass hat flew back home a few days later and still kept it to himself. Finally the pressure in his chest got to be to much and he saw a Dr. here. He was actually scheduled to have the surgery a week or so ago but had a cold, so he went to bike week in Daytona instead.

I must say even though I am pissed that he didn't tell us til after, he is doing really well and for that I am thankful.

To top it off he asked me to go and get some meds for his sickly dog Peter and go by his house to give them to him, since he obviously couldn't. I went to the vet and to Walgreens to get the meds then headed to his house. I was just gonna pick up Peter because the meds had some pretty bad side effects and I wanted to have him with me in case something went wrong. (Peter is in an advanced stage of liver failure) So when I get there and go in I find sweet Peter on the floor having a grand mal seizure. At this point I am wicked thankful that my mom is with me. I scooped Peter up and we shot to the vet. It took a crazy amount of drugs to make him stop seizing. I knew enough when I saw him to know this was really, really not good. We left Peter at the vet for a while with the promise to come and get him before they closed. When we got back he was still comatose but trying to seize despite the drugs. We talked to the vet and then broke down and called my brother in the hospital. Because we knew if Peter was allowed to come back around at all he would begin seizing again and would do so until he passed. With much sobbing and some soul searching, the decision was made to euthanize him. He was as comfortable as they could make him with his meds, snuggled in a blanket and with me stroking his ears, and telling him how much his daddy loved him he passed on.

Needless to say my Tuesday pretty much sucked rocks.

So I am hoping that St Patricks Day proves to be a damn sight better than yesterday.

So who am I green over today ???

Why my sweet friend Angie from Jeff, Angie and Aiden.

Why does she cause me to turn a lovely shade of green ?

Well I know Angie in person, she and I grew up in the same church.

I've known Angie and her parents since I was like 12 or 13.

She is one of the sweetest people I know. But she comes by that honestly as both her mom and dad are sweethearts. Angie lost her wonderful mother late last year,

I loved her mom Ann. She had a singing voice that just spoke to your soul.

But currently what makes me green about Angie is her super cute blog.

Angie takes lots of great pictures of her family and posts them on her blog.

She has them on a slide show format which I think is AWESOME. I wish I could figure out how to do that... Green.

She is a great writer and an awesome mom.

She loves her beagle baby Josie which pushes her to the top of my list. Love me some beagle :o)

She has great taste in music... or at least loads up only songs she knows I will like on her player :o)

I have been known to go to her blog a second time each day just to hear the music :o)

Angie has an amazing family and I am thankful that after some years of losing touch we were able to find each other and reconnect through blogs and Face Book.

On a side note I am trying to decide what if anything I want to do about my car.

That consumed most of my weekend.

I spent most of Saturday and a good part of Sunday afternoon schlepping around local and some not so local car lots in the pouring rain.

My biggest problem ???

I am not sure what kind of car I like or even what type car.

I found a VW Beetle that I loved but it just isn't practical for me. Dang it.

I have been looking at a Pontiac G6 GT sporty and cute but it still has 4 doors.

The thrill of getting a new to me ride has been over shadowed by my inability to find the right car for me.

Why am I green over him and his blog ?

One HUGE reason he has on several occasions had dinner with Dr Bill Bass.

for those of you who have no idea who he is he's the guy that created the Body Farm. Not the book that's Patricia Cornwell's but the actual place here in Knoxville.

He is also now a proof reader/editor for the new Jefferson Bass book.

The Bone Thief

Which means he has already read the book that is set to come out on the 23rd.

That alone makes me GREEN with envy of Frank.

I have also had the pleasure of meeting Frank and he is a really nice guy.

He blogs everyday, which try as I may I just can't seem to do that.

He is also on track to complete one of my bucket list items which is to visit all 50 states.

I have been in 28 so far.

His blog is well written and many times thought provoking.

I love that fact that while he is a member of the mainstream media he is still true to his faith and has an outstanding though sometimes fussy character.

To do all of that a still be funny is a real accomplishment.

Dust bunnies be damned

Not sure what came over me yesterday, but I cleaned my whole house from top to bottom inside and I even cleaned the outside windows that I could reach.

I cleaned out and purged a ton of stuff from my master bedroom closet.

Did a metric ton of laundry, and even folded and put it away :o)

I moved furniture and cleaned behind and underneath it.

I cleaned the fan blades, and the globes, I dusted the baseboards and window sills.

Swept the floors, cleaned the litter boxes.

Dusted in every room.

Rearranged and cleaned the pantry, cleaned out the fridge, cleaned the toilets and the sinks.

Swept the porch and the walk. Filled the bird feeders, and finally washed and vacuumed out my car.

Must have been that glorious golden orb in the beautiful blue sky, that took over and beat the lazy out of me.

Sadly even with all that cleaning and work.....

neither the husband or the kiddo noticed a thing :o(

A Karns High School teacher has been hospitalized after being knocked down as a result of a fight there.

Knox County School officials say Terry Runger was knocked down by students who were backing away from the scene of the fight.

At that point, the teacher hit her head.

Knox County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Martha Dooley says Runger was trying to break up the fight.

Dooley says a male student and a female student got into a verbal altercation and it escalated. Two other males joined in on the altercation. The first boy was hit. Juvenile charges are pending against the female student and the other two male students.

Terry Runger is in the intensive care unit at ParkWest, according to hospital officials. She is a longtime English teacher at the school.

Hoping and praying that Mrs Runger is ok.

Also one of my friends from high school lost her 5 year old daughter on Sunday.

Ryleigh's funeral is tonight.

I am so nervous about going to a funeral for a child. I just don't know if I can do it.

I have been to probably 30 funerals in my life, all four grandparents, and my dads, but I don't know thateven those will compare to a child's.

Seems like I can't get away from high school stuff this past few days.

Reliving the glory days

So a friend of mine from high school who now lives in FL came in for the weekend. So a few of us got together for dinner

and that progressed to this....

at some point if you grew up in Karns you would have painted this underpass.

So someone (Rusty) came up with the idea that we should relive our glory days and do it again.

So after a quick stop for supplies we all flashed back to being 16, goofy, and free.

It was freaking awesome.

I had the best time.

Glad that we are still young enough and crazy enough to even entertain the idea.

Thanks guys for one hell of a night.

Hope everyone had a happy VD on Sunday. We had a good day, didn't do a thing. Hung out at the house all day and just vegged. It was great.

Have been reading lots of other blogs lately, I have become a world class lurker HeHe.

I am sometimes amazed at the sheer number of followers other blogs have. Some of them are quite new and they have over a hundred followers.

I have been bangin out shitty posts on here since 2007 and I feel like a big shot cause 32 people were nice enough to follow me.

Not sure what I would do if I had over a 100 followers. Talk about pressure.....

But I do wonder how they manage to snag soooo many followers in such a short time span.

I also wonder about the blogs that review product after product.

I am glad that now they give you a little disclaimer that they are doing it because the company sent it to them.

I have reviewed a few products on here but, mostly because I either really like it or think it sucks.
Not much of a happy medium kinda girl :o)

Thinking I might start posting and a link to new blogs that I have come across in my bloggyland travels.

Ones that make me laugh, or piss me off.
Which happens more than I want to admit.

Super Bowl

It truly was a Super Bowl.

A great big Congrats to The New Orleans Saints for one heck of a ball game.

I watched most of the game and it was a bit of a nail biter.

Being from Tn I guess I am suppose to be a Colt's fan.

I can't help but go against the norm.

So last night I rooted for the Saints.

This being their first Super Bowl and the fact that they are one of five NFL teams who up until last night had never played in a Super Bowl.

With that said let's get to the important stuff....

Guilty Pleasures

So Kristie over at The Geek and The Belle posted a list of her 10 guilty pleasures.

I decided I would post my top 10 as well so here goes.....

1. Hoarders on A&E. I am so hung up on this show. I watch it in total disbelief. Then I get up and go a little OCD on things in my house.

2. Dirty Jobs. I LOVE, LOVE,LOVE this show.

It's very entertaining, mildly eductional, and it hosted by Mike Rowe. What other reason do you need :o)

3. Massages. I mean who doesn't like these :o)

4. People and Us magazines :o)

5. Chilis chips and salsa. Yummmmmmm

6. Hot baths with good smelling bath stuff and a great book. I can literally spend hours sitting in the tub. I have been known to stay so long that the water gets cold and I will drain out some and turn the hot tap back on to heat the water back up.

7. Glittery, sparkly, shiny things. Like candle holders or those little decor balls that you put in glass containers. I can stare at those things all day.

8. Craigslist free stuff ads. I have never gotten anything from here but I love to look. I like to check out the garage sales and the barter section too. BTW this site is hilarious

9. The Vampire Diaries. This is the guilty pleasure of everyone in my house right now. We all gather up on Thursday nights to watch.

I am team Damon

Megan is team Stefan and John well I'm not sure but he's just happy that they follow the "vampire rules" much more closely than the goobers in Forks.

10. Bejeweled Blitz on Face Book. This thing sucks up more of my time than laundry. I am however working on kicking this addiction. I just have to get my score higher than Johns and then I'm done :o)

is AMAZED and DUMBFOUNDED by people who think Haiti doesn't need our help!!! We can not control natural disasters or even which race, family, or country we are born into. As American's we should be happy that we are in a position to help. The shoe could be on the other foot. Would we want people to help us?

While I agree that Haiti needs help I am upset by the fact that everyone seems so gung ho to give, give, give, to Haiti but turn a blind eye to the people in our community that are being foreclosed on, have no electricity, and no food to feed their kids. We have kids in our community that are hungry. The only meal they get in a day is the one that they get at school. They get nothing on the weekends. These are not the children of parents who don't strive for better for their children, or parents that until recently could provide those things and more for their children. These are people that you see everyday, that are in serious need of help. People you know that are going without basic needs right here in America.

"As American's we should be happy that we are in a position to help."

if only this statement was true.

Perhaps this person lives in a different America than I do. I have friends who have lost jobs. Jobs that they have had for years with companies that were once strong and folks were proud to say they worked for. People that lived as most folks do pay check to pay check.

Working to make a better life for themselves and their families.

Proud people.

Honest hard working employees that have lost their livelihoods.

I am not sure that America in all her glory is in a position to take care of people around the world when her own economic structure is in the toilet.

So be amazed and dumbfounded by me because I believe that we need to take care of our own first and then do what we can for others after.

Also if the shoe was on the other foot I have little doubt that America would be left to solve her own crisis and take care of her own people.

I don't remember Haiti or any other country holding a telethon for the victims of Katrina or Andrew. I don't recall tons of volunteers from outside the U.S. rushing to help in the search for survivors or to render aide to those people affected by the attack on the World Trade Center.

I also understand that the situation in Haiti is dire and that the loss of life there is great.

I am not a cold hearted bitch.

Well maybe I am.

I understand that the people of Haiti need help.

I just wish that people wouldn't forget those that are in their "back yard" struggling.

1 in 50 Children in US is Homeless

In and out of classrooms, sleeping in shelters, shielded by parents, homeless children can seem invisible to society at large.

A national study released Monday finds that one in 50 children in America is homeless. They're sharing housing because of economic hardship, living in motels, cars, abandoned buildings, parks, camping grounds or shelters, or waiting for foster care placement.

"That is something that I don't think most people intuitively believe to be true," said Ellen Bassuk, an associate professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and president of the National Center on Family Homelessness.

The national center last did such a report 10 years ago, and numbers of children without a permanent place to sleep are growing.

Just a quick little post today.

Sorry I have been a bit absent as of late.

My mom and I have been shopping for Miss Megan some clothes and I have been going to job interviews.

I was offered one job, but because of the pay and the (ridiulously) small amount of hours they wanted I turned it down.

Today I went for my second interview at a local vet clinic.

I must have been having a good hair day, because as long as my references check out I'm in.

Since I got to pick the references I am hoping that I am a shoe in.

Don't want to jinx it but I am happily optimistic about this one.

It's decent hours and a good pay rate :o)

So everyone keep their fingers crossed for me :o)

It's Friday

FRIDAY !!!!

I am so glad it's Friday.

We have a long weekend because of the Monday holiday. Plus it is actually warmer here today. Well it suppose to get up to around 50. Yee Haw. We haven't seen those temps in a good while. This arctic air and freezing fog stuff is for the birds or at the very least the Canadians :o)

As if it could get any better the

sun has come out of hiding. It should up here yesterday and will hang around (if you can believe the local meteorologist (lying Bastard) til later tomorrow. Then we will be drowned

with up to 2 inches of rain. Like we need more of that :o(

But today is Friday, the sun is out, and we are going to a hockey game tonight :o)

Now off to wash my car and get a haircut. Then all will be right with the world.

At least for a few blissful minutes anyway.

So Knox County schools are back in session today after a day off on Friday for snow. I must say it's a good bad thing.

I love getting to sleep in a little bit on snow/winter break days.

I love having Megan home with me during the day.

I like not having to get out on these COLD mornings.

BUT

I don't get nearly as much house stuff done.

I tend to stay in my jammies ALL DAY.

So I don't feel quite as productive, but I love it none the less.

We are back to the grind today though, an hour late so maybe that's a nice compromise :o)

Hope everyone has a happy Monday.

Still not sure how I am going to handle things.

But here's the new catch.

Now that I have decided to "walk away" from this person/relationship.

They have had a medical emergency.

I feel like a complete shit for not rushing in to help.

Megan and I are off on this snowy Monday and the last day of her Christmas break to help at Young Williams Animal Center. We will be helping to take the animal photos for the website.

A whole lot of thinking going on...

So I have been thinking a lot lately, guess it's the start of the new year getting to me. I feel like I need to make some changes. Let go of some unhealthy things that I have been hanging onto. I have had this quote in my sidebar forever, and am realizing that it's super true and I really need in the new year to apply it.

"There comes a point in your life when you realize who matters, who never did, who won't anymore, and who always will...so don't worry about people from your past. there’s a reason why they didn't make it to your future...."

Knowing how true it is doesn't change the fact that it still sucks. Trying not to wallow and stew in the things and relationships I need to let go of are really hard for me. Partly because I hate to loose friends because I have so few to start with, but partly because I have real issues with guilt. You can get me to do just about anything by making me feel guilty about it.

That being said even when I am buried in the bullshit of a toxic relationship, I will keep trying to make it work so that I am not the one who walked away.

But I plan to try and change that this year. I am gonna grow a spine and let it go. I can only kiss peoples ass so many times and get nothing in return before I need to move the hell on.

Relationships/friendships should be give and take not just me giving and giving.

People who know me know that I will give the shirt off my back to you if you need it. But at what point should I expect that same type of compassion in return. Maybe I shouldn't maybe that's my problem.

Is that it ? am I expecting things from a friendship that only happen in movies or books ?

I long to have that small group of close girlfriends to have a GNO with or dinner with, or know that they have your back.

I need someone who can listen when I need to talk, not just unload their crap on me.

I have "friends" that I don't think are very good "friends" but they seem to have tons of people in their lives that fill that girlfriend role.

Perhaps I just expect more than I should or am not the friend I should be.

IDK

But I am tired of trying and trying. So I am going to move past it.

Stop trying so damn hard to make these relationships work. Should save me a ton of time, worry and stress. Plus I am sure the hubby would love not to see me suffer for these "friendships"

So here's to 2010 and me crawling out of the pile of bullshit that I am buried in, washing off, and moving on.

I so want one of these.

I know. I know, I am a sucker for some of the as seen of T.V. items.

But I can totally see this working. Right now if I forget a load for too long and it's wrinkly I wet a wash cloth and pitch it and then run the dryer for a while. That works pretty well but can cause fuzz.

they look kinda cute but they don't stay on super well. They do however make me giggle when I see all of my moms dogs decked out in the pink Snuggies :o)

and these things suck a dong...

my mom got Megan these for Christmas. While it seems like a great idea you need to be Lou Ferrigno

to put them on or take them off. If they tip over they still leak which was really the reason we got them. That and so that when you don't finish a soda you can recap it and stick it back in the fridge for later without it going flat. Well that doesn't so much work either. I think it may slow down the going flat process but they will still go flat overnight. Not working so great at my house....

and while it works to some degree. I wouldn't recommend using it under your arms like the ad says.

Safe for sensitive areas my arse.

Glad I didn't try it anywhere more sensitive.....

Megan used it a bit on her legs and she got what would amount to a friction burn before much of the hair was gone.

I do however LOVE this stuff

I use it in almost every load and it works great.

I don't use bleach anymore :o) Which means no more bleach spots on clothes :o)

I will admit that some things do require some soak time to really get the stains out. But hey I just put it in the washer add the Oxiclean let it agitate for a bit and stop the machine. I go back several hours later or if I am good I set it up to soak over night and restart the machine and WaLa stains are gone :o)

My mom succumbed to the promises of this ~~turd~~ gem of a bag

she didn't even get all her crap loaded into it before she decided that she just couldn't carry it. In person it is just not an attractive bag. I mean I get that you probably aren't the most stylish person to consider buying it in the first place, but when even after you have purchased it you can't bring yourself to carry it. I think that makes it a bust.

My mom has these too

but she loves them and says that they work great. They are as the ad says super easy to use. So far they are working like a charm. She has 6 of them in different plants around her house and all are alive and well. I should probably buy her another set since she doesn't have enough for all her plants.

but again these are a winner. My mom's tiny ass Chihuahua's can't get on the couch or the bed without them. and if they are wearing their Snuggies you can forgetaboutit.

Seems like I remember Megan getting a set of Blendy Pens. Don't remember how that one went. I got one of those Topsy Turvy things to and didn't have much luck with it. But I am pretty sure that was operator error on my part because I have several neighbors who have them and they had tomatoes hanging off those things laughing at me.

I am sure that we have purchased over time more as seen on T.V. products, and I am sure that in the future we will buy more of them as well.

But as I do I will let you know what we and by we I mean mostly me think of them.

Ok so I woke up this morning looking like this

Not really but my eye lids were firmly stuck shut.

Not a crack in either side. What the heck ???

So in a "blind" panic I tore them open.

Removing what few eye lashes I had...

guess I need some of this stuff

and while I am making requests, we could probably use some of this stuff too.

We have had A LOT of beans lately.

Our house is now responsible for more of the global warming than cow farts.....

Still trying to recuperate form a less than stellar Christmas. It just seems that I tried to build it up too much. IDK.

Anyway I have taken down all the decorations and packed them all safely back up.

We have eaten enough junk to kill us.

Is it wrong that as happy as I was to decorate for Christmas I am even happier that it's over.

I was given an AWESOME gift back during the summer and my slacking hiney never blogged about it.

In my defense we had a lot going on this summer and it just sort of slipped through.

I LOVED the gift and meant to blog about how AWESOME it is but I suck and I didn't.

So today I am trying to make it right or at least make up for my transgressions.

A great big THANK YOU to LUCKY for this AWESOME apron.

She made this just for me and included ric rac which if you know me at all you know I LOVE.

Plus she made it pink and black could it be more awesome ?

Holly Bloggy Bash day 5 Christmas traditions.

So today on the Holly Bloggy Christmas bash is favorite memory or tradition. I decided to use a memory of my own childhood.Each year at my house Christmas was a bit differnt from everyone elses'.Think National Lampoons Christmas without all the in-laws.My Dad LOVED Christmas and always had a child like wonder for the the whole Christmas season.He loved everything from the tree and the decorations to the presents under the tree and the snow.He especially loved those silvery icicle thingys.

You know the ones that stick to everything and are still showing up under stuff in April.He didn't thing the tree was complete without it being COVERED in those things. I love them too but my mom hates them.So it was always a bit of an ordeal when he wanted to cover the tree in them.He always won out :o)Another part of our Christmas tradition was that my mom insisted on listening to Elvis records while we put the ornaments on the tree.We would listen to his Christmas album.

and when that one has played out she would switch over to his Moody Blue album.

I always thought that this was the coolest looking record EVER.

By the time this record was over we were usually done decorating.

We always waited til really close to Christmas day to put up our tree.

Mostly because we always had cats and they would make a mess of the tree so the shortest time it was up was the best.

For some reason cats like those icicle thingies almost as much as my dad :o)

So because it was close to the big date after the tree was up my dad would climb on the roof and set out treats for the reindeer.

Usually some carrots and oats.

Bless his heart her would also put rabbit pellets on the roof Christmas night so that it looked like the reindeer had stopped by and eaten their treats.

(Growing up around animals I always knew, what went in must come out, so I always expected that there should be "turds" up there if the reindeer stopped for anytime at all)

It's funny to think about all the trouble that he went through to make Santa that much more real for me.

I think it was partly for me but also for him.

It gave him the chance to help with the magic of Christmas.

I think missing him so much this time of year is the reason I have gone kinda overboard with my Christams stuff this year.

Some how decorating and spreading the Christmas magic makes him feel close by again.

Even though he has been gone 6 years I think this year has been really hard because this is the last year I think Megan is going to "go along with" the idea of Santa.

And with the closing of that chapter I feel like some of the magic is ebbing away as well.

I am trying hard to hang on to it though.....

So now I am off to cover my tree in icicles.

Stained Glass candy.

Yummmmmm

Heres my favorite SUPER EASY Christmas candy recipe.

This is a basic 2 to 1 ratio recipe.

I use 1lb of white chocolate to 1/2 pound on pepermint candy crumbles.

Melt the white chocolate in a double boiler until all melty and smooth.

Remove from heat and add the peppermint crumbles.

Blend well.

Pour the mixture onto a cookie sheet that you have lined with either wax paper or aluminum foil.

Allow to cool about 30 minutes and then break into pieces.

Be sure and make plenty as it has been my experience that it doesn't last long. :o)

Holly Bloggy Christmas Bash Day 3 well day 2 for me.

Today's feature is Christmas Crafts.

If you stopped by yesterday you saw these items in my Christmas decor post.

But today I will show you how I made them.

First up is this little beauty. I made it in just a few minutes and I think it turned out great.

Here's all you need,

One floral cone, I got mine at Walmart for $1.97.

3 containers of small shatterproof ornaments. I got mine at the Dollar General for a $1.00 a box. About 8 feet of garland, and 9 feet of wired ribbon.

You will also want to have your glue gun out and ready.

I took the hanger part off the ornaments exposing just the opening. I put od dot of hot glue on it and then pushed it into the floral cone. The ornament opening alone will hold the ornament in place but I like the added protection of the glue holding everything together. I start at the top and work my way to the bottom spacing them out a bit as I go.

After I go all the way to the bottom with the ornaments I add the garland. Starting at the top I wind the garland around the tree and weaving in and out around the ornaments. I add a drop of hot glue here and there to hold the garland in place.

Lastly I make a coordinating bow to put on the top using wired ribbon. Since I am not a very good bow maker I left that part out since I didn't want to show you how to make a less than stellar bow.

I made this wreath in much the same way.

I bought the base wreath at Target in the little $1 and $2 dollar bins they have up front. I got the wreath for $2.00 and the shatterproof ornaments from the same bins for $1.00 a set. I used 9 feet of wired ribbon to make the bow.

This project was super easy. I sprung out the branches on the wreath and then hot glued the ornaments around in a pattern that I liked. I left the hanger end on the ornaments this time.

Then I made the bow and using wire wired it to the frame of the wreath and that's it. Super easy. :o)

From a Shitty Mess to a Great Success

So here it is my new kitchen floor.

I am so glad it's in.

The other flooring was a freaking nightmare.

It was the new fangeled Fiberglass composite linoleum stuff and it sucked big time.

It wasn't even a year old and it looked like crap.

Everything that moved on it scratched it or left a dimple that wouldn't go away.

You couldn't sit in your chair and scoot it back because it would tear the stuff.

But enough about the old stuff...

Isn't the new stuff awesome :o)

I think it looks really nice.

My kitchen has had a total overhaul in the last few months.

I got new cabinets, new counter tops, and now new flooring.

Am I a lucky girl or what ?

Gotta love all the hard work my Super Sexy Handyman put into this remodel.

Thanks babe I think it looks great and I really appreciate all your hard work.

On a side note Google Analytics is still lying to me.

It still isn't showing any visits to my blog.

Anybody else having problems with it ?

Ok so I am not sure what's going on.

When I looked at my Google Analytics dashboard for my number of visits yesterday it said I had zero.

But that can't be right because

1. Tammy from Keep in touch with Mommakin commented on my post from yesterday.

2. My blog counter shows 32 hits from yesterday.

3. Feedjit live feed shows visitors from Mexico, S Carolina, Ohio, Michigan, Massachusetts, Helsinki and a bunch of other less exciting places.

So what gives ?

Has anyone else noticed anything wonky with Google Analytics lately ?

Oh one more thing, I like to give a big shout out to all the Canadians that stop by.

I think I did a pretty good job on the turkey.
Considering I did it in paint with my mouse and used my right hand.

Ok so Miss Megan and I went to the midnight showing of New Moon last night.

I want to do a review post of our thoughts on the movie, but I am going to hold off a bit so that I don't spoil anything for those of you going to see it over the weekend.

I must say though that seeing it last night with all the Twihards was really fun.

After the movie ended people were really wound up and were chanting and singing in the parking lot.

The excitment was cool.

Ok so apparently my blog got got linked to Television without pity's site.
That has been the reason for the crazy amount of traffic as of late.
Thanks to anonymous for the heads up.
Only thing is I would LOVE to find on their site where my blog is linked.

I'm not sure what's going on but my blog has sort of exploded.
Yesterday alone I had 394 hits.
For some of you that might not seem all that surprising but when I usually average around 40 it's a big jump.
I looked at Google analytics but because I am such a tard and I don't really even know what I am looking at it didn't help much.
So what gives ???
BTW it's 3:25 and I have have 266 hits so far today.

So today I met Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar.
They were in Pigeon Forge to light the lights for Winterfest tonight.
One of my brothers friends owns a pizza place up there and let me in on the fact that the Duggar's would be eating lunch there today.
So of course I had to get my happy hiney up there.
To be honest they were super nice.
Michelle stood and talked to my friend Kelli and I for a bit about how much they like our area and how it reminds them of home.
She is super tiny too.
It's hard to tell on TV but in real life she is so small.
I'm barely 5'4" and she is shorter than me.
They talked to the other folks that were there eating lunch and posed for pictures.
All in all it was a fun trip and getting to meet them was really cool.

Ok so here's my Michelle Duggar costume.
I still have some work to do to make it really great but I think it is on it's way.
I think I got the look down pretty well.

Hugh Christopher Newsom, Jr., 23, and Channon Gail Christian, 21, were a couple from Knoxville, Tennessee. They were both raped and murdered after being kidnapped early on the morning of January 7, 2007. Their vehicle had been carjacked. Five suspects were arrested and charged in the case. The grand jury indicted four of the suspects on counts of murder, robbery, kidnapping, rape and theft. One of those arrested, Letalvis D. Cobbins, was convicted on multiple charges including several counts of felony murder. Another has been convicted of federal charges as accessory after the fact to carjacking

According to news reports, Christian and Newsom had gone on a date at a local restaurant on Saturday, January 6, 2007, but did not return home. During their night out, the couple was "hijacked, bound and blindfolded and taken back to Lemaricus Devall 'Slim' Davidson's rented house on Chipman Street."

Christian's parents found her abandoned Toyota 4 Runner two blocks away from the Chipman Street house the following Monday with the help of her mobile phone provider. An envelope recovered from the vehicle yielded fingerprint evidence that led police to Lemaricus Davidson and 2316 Chipman Street. When police went to the address on Tuesday, January 9, they found the home unoccupied and Christian's body in a trash can in the kitchen.

According to the testimony of the Knox County Acting Medical Examiner Dr. Darinka Mileusnic-Polchan at the subsequent trial of Eric Boyd, Newsom was repeatedly raped and then blindfolded, gagged, arms and feet bound and his head covered. Barefoot, he was either led or dragged outside the house to a set of nearby railroad tracks. He was shot in the back of the head, the neck, and the back, and his body then set on fire.

Christian's death came only after hours of sexual torture, medical examiner Mileusnic-Polchan testified. Christian suffered horrific injuries to her vagina, anus and mouth. She was not only raped but savaged with "an object," possibly a broken chair leg, the doctor testified. She was beaten in the head. Some type of chemical was poured down her throat, and her body, including her bleeding and battered genital area, likely scrubbed with the same solution - all while Christian was alive, the forensic expert said. She was then "hog-tied," with curtains and strips of bedding, her face covered tightly with a small trash bag and her body stashed inside five large trash bags before being placed inside a large trash can and covered with sheets. Christian died slowly, suffocating, the medical examiner said.

The national news media was criticized for allegedly ignoring the story because the victims were white and the suspects black
This crime has gone greatly unnoticed by the national news media, and I am not sure why. It seems as though no one outside our area cares about what happened to these two kids. This trial has been hard to watch as was the one before it.

I feel for the victims families.
I can not fathom what they must be going through.
Please say a prayer for them.

So with that I am gonna go as Michelle Duggar for Halloween this year.
Which is strange because I am pretty sure that the Duggar's don't celebrate Halloween.
